Her family comes from Uttaranchal, and she’s one of the three children. Her father was a peon in State Bank of India in Mumbai. In her early years her father passed away, and the eldest son took charge of the family. He promised to work hard to pay for her education, and she promised to fulfill his dream. They shifted to Dehradun, where she completed her college education; she went on to complete her diploma in computer education and now Rekha is a software professional working in Dehli. She was sponsored by VYF from kindergarten to her post-graduation.
