  Journey To Divinity - Odissi Recital
Journey to Divinity" is a tribute to swami Vivekananda , through Indian classical dance by Odissi exponent Shubhada Varadkar. it portrays various aspects of Swamiji's philosophy and is base on the poems of Swamiji."Journey to Divinity" takes a kaleidoscopic view of Swamijis life in narrative form. it uses classical dance in conventional sense but also includes commentary and visuals.this is the recording of the programe organised by Shri Ramakrishna Mission and Vivekananda Youth Forum. or scheduling a show of this Tribute, please email or call us.

Past Events

(1). The Mumbai Christmas festival at the Royal Turf club in Nov 2011 was a super success! VYF reached out to a whole lot of different class of people! Both Vivekananda's books and the jewellery was a big draw!

(2). VYF celebrated Christmas at Mankhurd’s children’s home with the DANCE MASTI COMPETITON on Dec 24th, 2011. The kids were fantastic! What skills !what variation- all self taught! the whole atmosphere was vibrant - full of joy, of giving , of happiness! The real spirit of Christmas! Kudos to TEAM VYF - the sponsors, the members and the kids of Sandhyalalya – for putting up a GRAND SHOW - GREAT TEAM WORK!! VYF also distributed blankets on this occasion for keeping the kids warm on this occasion.

(3). VYF and Siddharth Contractor foundation has sponsored 30 boys of David Sasoon Industrial Home , Matunga for vocational training in electrical, wiremans course & screen printing.

(4). On the occasion of Swami Vivekananda’s birthday ON 12TH JANUARY - NATIONAL YOUTH DAY, Ramakrishna Mission, Mumbai & Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan presented Shekhar Sen's mono act play “VIVEKANANDA” at S.P.Jain 's Inst. of Management Studies in Andheri.

(5). Government of India ion the occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda and has donated some amount to RKM headquarters in Belurmath Belurmath in turn has given this money to several of its branches to take up welfare work in the field of children, women and youth.

(6). RKM Mumbai has given a grant to VYF under Gadashar Abhyudaya Prakalpa (GAP) programme of Rs 426,000 for the year 2011-12 for the welfare of 100 children under the age of 12. The categories mentioned include nutrition, books, study material, health, hygiene and establishment costs. VYF has bought a computer, projector with a screen, school bags, umbrellas, toiletries, educational study materials and has decided to give nutritious snacks in the forthcoming months. The height and weight of the children has to be taken every month to monitor their progress. This project is to bring a qualitative change in the health and cognitive development of the children

(7). 13th July 2011: Distribution of rain wear, toiletries and school bags to 100 children at Soup Kitchen, Mumbai by the President of RKM

(8). 27th August 2011: Celebrating 25 years of VYF at RKM, Khar. Stage performance by children of our different projects and sale of handicrafts made by the children of Sandhyalaya.

(9). VYF has initiated "Making reading interesting" at David sassoon Industrial Home Matunga for about 150 orphan boys - every 2nd & 4th Saturdays to develop a reading culture .This is done through creative methods such as story telling, role play,puppets etc. This has been hugely successful with the children thoroughly participating and enjoying these sessions.

(10). VYF has started a Contemporary Dance class at Chembur children's Home, Mankhurd every 1st & 3rd Saturdays where the children are engaged with creative dance movements and works as a therapy for their troubled lives. This sessions are conducted by Shamak Davar and troupe. Any members wishing to shake their legs with the children are most welcome to volunteer.

(11). VYF has collected Rs 2,55,000/- towards Uttarakhand Relief fund . This amount was donated to Ramakrishna Mission,Mumbai. RKM has been actively involved in the relief and rehabilitation process.

(12). VYF had put up a its yearly stall on Durga Puja at RKM (Khar) wherein on display and sale were various products made as part of our vocational training of its boys and girls. VYF also used this platform to create public awarness for use of jute bags instead of plastic.

(13). Bigger boys from the Soup Kitchen project were taken on an excursion to Tungarehswar on Oct 2. The children had a blast.
